Booking Through Thursday: Sunshine and Roses

The reverse of last week’s question: Imagine that everything is going just swimmingly. The sun is shining, the birds are singing, and all’s right with the world. You’re practically bouncing from health and have money in your pocket. The kids are playing and laughing, the puppy is chewing in the cutest possible manner on an officially-sanctioned chew toy, and in between moments of laughter for pure joy, you pick up a book to read....

What is it?

The ‘sunshine and roses’ feeling isn’t one I’m particularly familiar with, at least not for long enough at a time to go hunting for a book. So I can’t speak from experience on this one. But I suspect I would steer clear of anything gloomy or depressing (unless it was favourite, say Wuthering Heights). Probably in a really good mood I could read anything; but maybe it would be something I’d been looking forward to, or something I’d loved and wanted to reread.

I'm kind of with you. This was a tough question to answer. Although I'm one of those eclectic kind of readers that doesn't really have a particular genre I read, I don't want anything that will bring me down out of my good mood!!

I haven't had a lot of "sunshine and roses" moments either for awhile, except when I'm playing with my 2 sons.

I definitely had trouble answering this one, but had to go with cookbooks because I'd have energy to make nifty desserts. :)

I couldn't really answer this one with certainty. I could read just about anything under those conditions. A beautiful sad book would not bring me down in the best of conditions--I would be able to appreciate the beauty of the book more, I think.

This one was tough because you would probably read just about anything. But I do know this would be the time for something scary.

What a difficult question!! I can easily imagine reading books as uppers when I'm down but if all is well, I guess I'd read just about anything. I avoid depressing reads, as much as possible, anyway. Sounds like we think alike. I don't have many moments I consider "sunshine and roses", either.

Wuthering Heights is one book I must read so many times!

Another being Jane Eyer!
